MASS launch new generation hi-tech concretes
MASS the nations foremost supplier of innovative concrete surfaces and sculptural efffects, has propelled its truly unique art form to new heights, offering designers greater choice and application possibilities than ever before. Following extensive research and development, MASS has created another breakthrough in advanced concrete technology, with an expanded range of colours, stunning textures and finishes to provide designers with unlimited scope for vision and originality.
Concrete is highly favoured among pioneering designers. Its understated look compliments any interior and it sits easily with glass, timber, stainless steel and ceramic.
Lighter and thinner than dressed stone, MASS concrete surfaces provide a remarkably light, hard and durable finish with a modern natural and handcrafted appearance. Alternatively MASS can offer the look and feel of rougher looking raw concretes.
The new mix designs have been specifically formulated to ensure an even higher strength and durability-but with a lighter weight for easier handling and fitting, enabling large format panels and surfaces to be cast.
With a strength exceeding 100N/M2, MASS is more than double the strength of traditional precast concrete. What's more, the mix can be modified to incorporate and display decorative aggregates, with flexural strength achieved through the inclusion of fibre reinforcement, allowing the casting of complex and intriguing 3 dimensional shapes.
A broader palette of standard colours has been created, from natural greys to blacks, whites, creams and browns - which compliment the existing bespoke colour match service. Furthermore, MASS is now available in numerous handcrafted finishes, from a silky matt effect through to satin sheen to a variety of glossy, smooth and polished surfaces in which the intensity and depth of cut provides unlimited options. There is also a whole series of hybrid special finishes for creating anything from a raw industrial effect to that of pumice. With the flexiblity to mould and cast bespoke textured finishes - such as timber grain, wallpapers and sand ripples - MASS lends itself to imaginative design. The versatility of the process extends to signage and branding. Emblems and logos can be highlighted by colour, texture or relief, as stand alone pieces or incorporated into larger panels.
As a finishing touch, robust sealant systems are used to meet the need for low maintenance regimes with an array of individual performance specifications, from abrasion and anti-slip to enhanced resistance to acid, staining, graffiti and chewing gum.
MASS is widely used by discerning designers for wall panels, flooring panels and tiles, sculptural effects, work surfaces, signage and stair treads. The material is featured on many high profile projects such as The Hayward Gallery, Bluewater and Westfield, St Barts and the London Hospital, Dover Castle, Hilton Hotels, headquarter buildings for Arup, Hammersons and Stanhope and hundreds of high-end residences.
In terms of sustainability, MASS performs exceptionally well and over 90% of waste generated during the manufacturing process is recycled. Unlike many alternative materials, MASS is made in the UK, maintaining and supporting the local economy and employment.
The MASS team offers an exceptional turnkey service package, with CAD design, bespoke colour matching, technical and sales support, reliable delivery and expert installation.
MASS is owned by the PD Edenhall precast group. The innovative formulation and expanded product range are largely attributed to Edenhall's continued investment into research and development during the recession.
