As we reflect on 2023, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our clients for the opportunities that you have given us throughout the last 12 months. We have been lucky enough to work on some fantastic and, at times, challenging projects, from an iconic world leading heritage site, to green credential commercial office spaces and luxury residential spaces. We are grateful to you all.
January 2023, saw our 20-year milestone and we are extremely proud of our growth.... from a couple of humble 'start-up barns' in the Purbecks, in heart of rural Dorset, to our current enormous, 45,000ft2 aircraft hangar next to Bournemouth Airport. Our progression is down to our reputation and all of the team that guides it.
As with every year, our Research and Development has been very much at the forefront for the team and, of course, for our clients. We now have LEED and WELL accredited sealants and we have been creating some more exciting and bespoke mix designs using a wide range of recycled materials - this has resulted in exciting collaborations and some stunning concrete relief designs.
2023 has seen MASS add more machinery to the production-line, providing wider technical abilities and further streamlining our production capacity. We start 2024 with a healthy order book, so please do get in touch if you have plans to place orders in the next 8-months as production slots are filling up fast!
Some new, and familiar, faces joined MASS through-out 2023
- Harry joined the Design & CAD team, bringing it to 5-strong. Harry has a one-year work placement with MASS as part of his Bournemouth University degree course in Product Design. Meanwhile, we welcomed back to the same team, last year's placement student, Joe, who has re-joined after completing his degree at Bournemouth - some of you may remember Joe from 2022.
- Jenny, Brandon, Charlie and Jake also joined MASS this summer in our Production Team.
Mousa continues to make the MASS Concrete family proud as he began 2023 by being elected as an Associate member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He has also completed his training as a STEM ambassador, delivering a range of activities for young people including career talks to inspire the next generation.
We are pleased to announce that Wiktor remains the undefeated Whiff-Whaff Champion, keeping his crown for yet another year! So far, nobody has been able to lift the title from Wiktor but should any outside contenders think they possess the skills and cat like reflexes to challenge the Whiff-Whaff Champ, please do get in touch, and we can organise a duel on your next visit to the MASS Factory!
This year MASS Concrete staff decided not to take part in Secret Santa but instead to donate to a local charity and, following consideration, it was decided that Bournemouth Foodbank would be the charity of choice. Bournemouth Food Bank supply much needed food parcels to those that have been identified by local agencies such as Children’s centres and Citizens Advice.
We are delighted to have raised £115.00 and our donation was price matched by Aviva Community Funding. Thank you to all of the team who kindly donated.
As 2024 beckons we have much to look forward to and we will of course continue to share our news and projects.
From the entire team here at MASS Concrete, we hope you have a Happy Christmas and a lovely New Year!
