BB12 C16_INDP_LE_RESIN – Basalt Black Building Waste Concrete
BB12_C16 takes our BB08_C7 a step deeper into the Basalt Black range. Its blue-black matrix, coloured with black pigment, carries the same fully reclaimed sand and aggregates: crushed brick from building waste, recycled shingle and fine black basalt dust. Industrial polishing opens up the surface to reveal cream, ochre and terracotta pieces that glow against the dark ground like embers. A Light Reflectance Value (LRV) of 19.20% places it at the low-reflectance end of our palette, where it gives a space real depth.
Against this darker base, the reclaimed materials behave differently. BB08_C7 is muted and even; here the brick and lighter shingle jump out in sharp contrast, while the basalt dust all but disappears into the blue-black, leaving the warmer pieces to carry the pattern. With shingle graded from 10mm up to 40mm, the face moves from fine grain to larger stones, and because the mix draws on several waste streams, no two areas look quite the same.
The contrast between dark matrix and warm aggregate is at its strongest on floors and wall panels. For architectural projects that want a dramatic, grounded surface, such as hospitality interiors, statement receptions and feature walls, it offers plenty of detail to discover up close.
Made only from reclaimed sand and aggregates, the mix keeps material out of landfill and needs no newly quarried stone, while local sourcing keeps transport distances short and supports regional supply chains. Polished concrete is dense and hard-wearing, so it suits surfaces in constant use, and the aggregate and pigment balance can be adjusted to suit the brief.
