MASS Concrete had the exciting opportunity to work with Mix Interiors on designing and manufacturing the 2024 Mix Awards trophies. The Mix Awards recognise the creativity and innovation within the interior design industry. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Mix Awards and Mix Interiors wanted to celebrate by redesigning their trophies to incorporate recycled materials to highlight how interior design styles are changing to accommodate a more sustainable future.
Here at MASS we place a strong focus on keeping our products and manufacturing process as sustainable as possible. Mix Interiors recognised this and reached out to collaborate on their trophies.
Using a mix of crushed recycled glass and by-products from quarries, we created a bespoke aggregate mix to feature in the trophy. Adding aggregates into concrete has multiple benefits including reducing the carbon footprint of the product and adding to the durability of the material which in turn increases the lifespan of the trophy so that it may be proudly displayed for years to come.
This was an innovative move from Mix Interiors, as through their publicity from the Mix Awards, they drive sustainability throughout the industry, not just in client designs but within our own celebrations and accomplishments.
These trophies show the dedication of experts and industry leaders to environmentally conscious and sustainable work.
We hope they inspire everyone within the industry to continue committing to this value, thinking outside the box for new ways to reduce carbon footprint and emphasise sustainability.
The event took place on the 27th of June 2024 at Battersea Park and was filled with anticipation and excitement.
The trophies were a topic of discussion throughout the evening.
