AWIND05_INDP_LE_IMPREG
The AWIND05_INDP_LE_IMPREG sample showcases a bespoke concrete finish featuring crushed mirror aggregates in two grades, 1–3mm and 6–9mm, that introduce a distinctive reflective quality to the surface. Combining these particle sizes creates variation in texture and visual impact, while the reflective fragments catch and interact with light, adding depth and subtle changes in appearance. Set within a fine dolomite and white cement matrix, tinted with black, cobalt blue and white pigments, the interplay between the concrete and the mirror inclusions creates a decorative finish suited to architectural applications where material detail and light reflection contribute to the overall design. With a Light Reflectance Value (LRV) of 50.44%, the sample offers a relatively high level of light reflectance.
At MASS Concrete, our commitment to more sustainable concrete production extends to how we use unconventional aggregates. Crushed mirror shows how materials beyond traditional stone can give a finish its character, and where available and suitable for the project, locally sourced aggregates help reduce transportation distances and support regional supply chains.
Through considered material specification and bespoke mix design, we respond to each project’s aesthetic and technical requirements. Depending on the application and performance requirements, opportunities to incorporate alternative or recycled materials can be explored, helping architects and designers weigh aggregate selection, reflectivity, durability and environmental impact when specifying a decorative architectural concrete.
