TER03 C2_INDP_LE_RESIN – Terracotta Reclaimed Granite Concrete
Warm as fired clay, TER03_C2 is a terracotta architectural concrete coloured with mahogany, red and yellow pigments. Reclaimed granite in a range of sizes runs through the mix, and industrial polishing slices it open to show flecks of cream, black and grey against the red matrix. The LRV of this finish is 30.00%.
The story behind that granite starts in Cornwall. Around St Austell, every tonne of usable china clay extracted leaves roughly nine tonnes of waste rock behind, and over generations it has risen into the pale spoil heaps known as the Cornish Alps. China clay forms from decomposed granite, so what is left is granite too: quartz, feldspar and mica that are hard, clean and full of character. Our supplier in St Austell washes, crushes and grades this by-product, and we bring it into our mixes in place of newly quarried stone, turning something once overlooked into the defining feature of the finish.
Polished, the granite reads crisply and the colour holds across a wide area, which makes it a natural choice for floors and wall panels. It is equally at home in architectural projects that call for a warm, mineral tone with real depth, especially where the origin of the material is part of the design narrative.
Reclaimed aggregate means less virgin extraction, less energy spent on processing than newly quarried stone, and a valuable resource kept in use rather than left on a spoil heap. The dense polished surface is hard-wearing too, so it stands up well to constant use. As with all our mixes, the aggregate and pigment balance can be tuned to suit the brief.
