TER27 C2_INDP_LE_RESIN – Pink Reclaimed Granite Concrete
Softer and lighter than our TER03_C2, TER27_C2 trades the deeper red for a gentle pink-terracotta matrix. The same reclaimed granite aggregates, in varying sizes, are set through the mix, and industrial polishing brings them to the surface as flecks of cream, black and grey. On the paler ground the stone reads more delicately, giving a warm, blush-toned surface with a quiet speckle. The LRV of this finish is 39.66%, so it reflects noticeably more light than its deeper sibling.
The granite is a by-product of china clay extraction around St Austell in Cornwall, where every tonne of usable clay leaves around nine tonnes of waste rock behind. Generations of it have built up into the pale spoil heaps known as the Cornish Alps. Since china clay forms from decomposed granite, the leftover stone is granite too: quartz, feldspar and mica that are hard, clean and full of character. Our supplier in St Austell washes, crushes and grades it, and it takes the place of newly quarried stone in our mix. What was once overlooked becomes the defining feature of the finish.
On floors and wall panels, its softer tone keeps a space light while the granite rewards a closer look. It suits architectural projects looking for warmth without weight, from hospitality and retail interiors to residential spaces wanting a natural, mineral finish.
Reclaimed aggregate reduces demand for virgin extraction, needs less energy to process than newly quarried stone, and keeps a valuable resource in use rather than on a spoil heap. Once polished, the concrete is dense and hard-wearing, so it copes well with surfaces that see constant use, and we can fine-tune the aggregate and pigment balance to suit the brief.
